Ashley performed at our 2014 Navajo Code Talkers Day. Let’s help her with this project.
Hello, my name is Ashley Claw. As a young Dine’ lady I have the honor of representing my community as Miss Central Navajo Teen 2014-15. This title requires me to present myself to others as an ambassador and to speak on behalf of my people and share our culture throughout the Navajo Nation. I am currently a junior and an honor student in high school aiming to fundraise for the pageant at the end of my reign. It is in my best interest that I am able to give a fantastic pageant that people will enjoy, in order to give back.
A few of my accomplishments include participating in the Grandma Thomas walk for 8 years, visiting and singing for the grandparents at the nursing home , taking gifts to the ill children at Chinle IHS, co-sponsoring conferences on Suicide Prevention, going to the various elementary schools and reading to the younger students and promoting Navajo lanuguage through singing. I have also performed at various functions singing the National Anthem in my Dine’ language.
I have had the wonderful support of my family who have guided me and been by my side throughout this entire journey, which i am more than grateful for. To represent my people, I travel on my own time to appearances and use money out of my own pocket as money is not provided to me through the MCNT organization. Although I love traveling, it has been my responsibility to pay for my own expenses along the way. I am asking for donations to help fund the upcoming pageant. Any contributions are greatly appreciated, thank you. Ahe’hee.
